Well done, Uruguay. To think, even straights can form a civil union. What does that say about the UK? Not much. Uruguay will probably beat us to same-sex marriage I wouldn’t mind betting, if Denmark doesn’t do it before them.

Damn. Almost makes me want to move to Uruguay! What a country! Nice to see some real progress being made in South America. I’m originally from Peru, which I’m pretty sure is quite a way behind Uruguay on equal rights.

  3. I love Uruguy, such a nice and friendly country. If you are planning a trip to the south, choose Uruguay. Plus is safe.

    WELL DONE URUGUAY!!! :)

This leads the way for South America. Uruguay’s international reputation will have greatly improved because of this. Excellent decision!

Really, today I feel so proud of my country and our government that I am kind of speechless by such an event. I hope America Latina keeps growing and improving in this field. Big hug to all of you!!!

  8. UK does have full joint adoption for same-sex couples since 2004!!!!

Uruguay and the UK are NEARLY on the same level. They both still ban marriage for same-gender couples.

Uruguay do not have “IVF parentage” – which the UK does since 2009!!!!!!

So the UK is still SLIGHTLY ahead of Uruguay!!!!
