Derren Brown ‘predicted Lottery numbers’
Gay illusionist Derren Brown last night pulled off a trick in which he appeared to correctly predict the winning numbers on the National Lottery.
After telling viewers he had selected six numbers prior to last night’s draw, he switched on a television to show the live draw on BBC1 and wrote the winning numbers on a board.
He then revealed his own numbers to show they matched, saying: “I can’t believe it”.
Brown did not reveal the six numbers before the live draw, saying he had established the BBC has exclusive rights to announce results first.
He claimed to have spent a year working on the stunt and plans to show viewers how the illusion was done in a show tomorrow evening.
A National Lottery spokeswoman said: “Congratulations to Derren Brown on the illusion he created on Channel 4. It’s impossible to affect the outcome of the draw and Derren Brown did not suggest he was able to do this.”
The 38-year-old came out in 2007 and has been with his partner for more than two years.
