ACLU reaches settlement with California school over alleged homophobia

  1. Essentially this “settlement” is just paying lip service to the ACLU. That her tormentors have not been affected or disciplined is the REAL outcome of this case – and sets a horrifying precident to LGBT students wanting to report harrassment. Miss Ketchum has been forced to relocate to a new school. Her abusers have not. Where exactly has justice been served? Her family should attempt to prosecute the football players that threatened her with rape and murder and sue the school for constructive dismissal. Whatever her feelings towards this dubious outcome, I hope she overcomes the horrendous treatment at Corona del Mar High School, recovers her confidence, and succeeds in her ambitions.
