George Clooney proved his reputation for smoothness this week when a half-naked man made a pass at him.

During a press conference at Venice Film Festival, an unnamed fan stripped to his underwear and shouted: “I am gay, George. Take me, choose me, George, please. May I kiss you, just once?”

Unflappable as ever, Clooney replied: “It’s hard when you take a big chance and it doesn’t really work.”

The actor was promoting his latest film The Men Who Stare At Goats, which also stars Ewan MacGregor and Kevin Spacey.

Explaining his bandaged right hand, he said he had caught it in a car door.

In 2006, Clooney said he had chosen to play Batman as a gay character.

The actor, who was being interviewed on an American Oscar show, replied to host Barbara Walters who asked if he would ever play a gay cowboy.

Clooney said he believed he had already played a gay character: “I was in a rubber suit and I had rubber nipples. I could have played Batman straight, but I made him gay.”
