the least of the three. It would have been interesting to see what the US would have been like had Jack or Bobby lived…

Senator Kennedy was a maverick, an irreplaceable loss for the democratic party and an ardent supporter of full equality for LGBT people in America. I wish we had just one politician of his stature in our own country. Rest in peace, Senator Kennedy, and thank you.

  4. Senator Kennedy was chief fund raiser for the IRA in the USA excuse me if I don’t morn his passing.

  5. Well I hope he rots in hell for all the funds he raised for the murderous IRA scum.

Americans get all high and mighty about a dying man being shown a little compassion, but they aren’t shy about mourning their own terrorists – and that particular Kennedy has the blood of thousands of innocent Brits on his hands.

As one of those injured in the 1996 Canary Wharf bomb, I can say with all sincerity that I hope his end was painfully tortured and that he suffered greatly.

And we must not forget that Brits come to America to insult our people (on the American Idol Show) and rip us off for Billions in their scams (Branson on Spaceport America), and they tried to take us over in the War of 1812 but we beat their butts bloody and sent them packing. The Brits started the slave moment in America, they tried conquering the world once by warring on defenseless nations like India and Africa as well as North America. The British burned the so-called-witches in Salem. Their own history proves they did far more damage than you claim Ted Kennedy did.The Kennedy’s were behind gay rights and the poor people of our country as well as all minorities. How many British families in government can you name that have done as much for your country that the Kennedy’s did for ours? I do not know anything about him raising funds for the IRA, but then the IRA was a religious war; Christian against Christian, and Christians for the most part do not want gays to have any rights. So if he raised money for the Christian Jihad in the British Islands, then that is indeed a bad mark against him, but through his efforts there are more gay rights in this country (USA) than there were fifty years ago.I liked Ted Kennedy and all of the Kennedy’s. No one is perfect, we all make mistakes we regret. He was a Catholic and I suppose he raised money into the IRA because he thought he was doing the right thing as I am sure he did not do it to have people killed as he was not that kind of man.You can’t satisfy everyone. What if he had raised money for the opposing force against the IRA? Then of those against the IRA supporters would say “I hope he had a painful death.” You can never satisfy everyone. Countries however need to stay out of other countries affairs anyway and his biggest mistakes was not keeping his nose out of another country’s business.

Ted Kennedy raised funds for the unification of Ireland. He never raised funds for terrorism. The idea of a united Ireland is a cherished idea among many millions of Americans. It is a perfectly reasoanble and valid aspiration. The Kennedys never knowingly raised money for or supported terrorism so it’s not fair to accuse him of that.

Although the dead girl in the car in 1970 is still problematic.

My granny in Clare had 3 pictures on her wall. One was of the blessed ‘virgin’ Mary (you know – that skeezy gal who claimed to get up the duff without having sex). The next was of the pope of the era (the cross-dressing dude). The last was of JFK and Jackie. That was the most glam photo.

  9. The claim that Ted Kennedy only raised funds for a United Ireland are both bizarre and clueless.

Ted Kennedy was the chief fund raiser for Noraid – and, since 1981, Noraid’s ‘foreign principal’, as registered with the U.S. Department of Justice, has been none other than the Provisional IRA. That makes him the chief fund raiser for the IRA and both a banker and sponsor of terrorism and more complicit in terrorism by far than most of the people incarcerated unjustly in Guantanamo Bay .. so yes, he was certainly raising funds for a United Ireland, but a United Ireland achieved through violent means and with thousands of innocent victims blooded and murdered.

But hey, his American victims are few, so we are supposed to forgive him; because, as recent history has shown us, only American victims count.

Simon Murphy would do well to stick to documented facts.

  10. And all this at a time when we are told that we should be taking sanctions against Libya for funding the IRA? 95% of the IRA’s funds came from Noraid, not Libya.

The Lion…Err Dog of the Senate.
“Teddy Kennedy was the weak kitten in the litter, never able to measure up to his brothers.
The accident at Chappaquiddick displayed his chronic immaturity. One problem Teddy has always had was keeping it in his pants – even when other people are around.”
    – Cleo O’Donnell – wife of former Kennedy campaign aide.
Check out my take, and stick around for more good content.
