Tornado was ‘God’s wrath’ for civil partnership

A tornado which struck the Isle of Lewis has been blamed on a recent civil partnership ceremony.

BBC children’s presenter Andrew Robertson tied the knot two weeks ago with his partner Craig Atkins, in the first gay union the island has seen.

The island has also started running ferry services on Sundays, a move which a local church described as “immoral and a sin”.

The 110mph tornado hit Lewis on Tuesday night, causing thousands of pounds worth of damage. No one was hurt.

Reverend James Tallach, of the Free Presbyterian Church of Scotland, who had criticised the gay ceremony and the new ferry service, suggested the tornado was a punishment from God, adding: “No good comes out of defying God’s law.”
