The Conservative Party is to hold a Pride event for the first time at its annual conference in Manchester.

‘Conference Pride’ will be held at Spirit Bar in the heart of Manchester’s gay village on Tuesday October 6th.

Guests will include Stonewall chief executive Ben Summerskill, openly gay blogger Iain Dale and Conservative Party vice-chair, Margot James, a lesbian who is also the party’s candidate for Stourbridge.

According to organisers, a number of special guests, including one senior shadow cabinet member, are set to attend.

The new event follows party leader David Cameron’s appearance at a private Pride party last month.
