  1. While most of the time, anything coming out of Fox News is a big load.. This is quite genuine.
I’ve been to America quite frequently, and I’m quite well aquainted with their slang. “no homo” is just as common amongst the hip-hop scene (which is quite large) as this article makes it out to be, sadly no one would argue against this fact.

This is really what Stonewall was campaigning for a while ago, for everyone to just come to terms with who they are, and be truthful to both themselves and others. This includes heterosexuals, in the sense that anyone who is comfortable with their sexuality shouldn’t feel threatened by another.
I’m quite nerdy, and have been in power on several large IRC networks. Where I have power, I simply forbid any speech that may be interpreted as unfound hatred and unnecessary bigotry. I can do this as someone with high power that people listen to.
Using my situation as an example, more Hip Hop artists should follow suit in a ‘similar’ fashion.
Even one major artist to come out and say “this isn’t proper” would suffice in broadening the constant ‘tunnel view’ that alot of people have today.

Peace for all, and all that jazz.

  2. Yet closer to home we have the “that’s so gay” remark in common parlance over here. Same difference don’t you think?

  3. Thanks, Marc Hill :)

    Very intelligent and well-articulated points.

Kanye West is the only major hip hop artist who has spoken out against homophobia. It is in general a viciously hateful form of music. Even 50 Cent who was raised by his lesbian mother and her female partner has condemned gay men.

I think it is time for an outing campaign similar to the outing of politicians who were secretly gay but who voted against gay rights in the early 1990’s.

Any hip hop artist who is secretly gay and who uses homophobic language must be exposed for the bigot that they are.

And I don’t understand why closeted celebrities like Queen Latifah who comes from the hip hop world remains so secretive about her lesbianism.

  5. I don’t think a public outing campaign would do anything but generate more attention to the celebrity instead of the real message which is tolerance. I think the only way to combat intolerance is education and for more allies as well as the LGBTQ community to organize a campaign geared toward combating hatred all together whether it be racial, sexual orientation or any other type of intolerance.

You hear all sorts of tags like “but not in a good way” and “but not like that”. You can’t police the language – things like these die their own deaths when they stop being funny. The best way to ensure it disappears, might be to adopt it!

  7. Bleh, why would you want to adopt it? It sounds really tacky. I’d hate to use it every day, just to prove a point. And if only all fox news staff were like this. He’ll probably be fired now. =( Also, me loves me same kanye.

  8. black folks dont like to be called the word “NIGGER”, THEY DONT LIKE IF A WHITE FOLK GO AROUND SINGING ABOUT NIGGAH THIS AND NIGGAH THAT, SO WHY THEY STILL OPPRESSING THE GAYS WITH THE WORD HOMOS AND FAGGOTS. DO THEY KNOW THEIR PAST HISTORY BEING CALLED NIGGER NAMES THAT HURT THEIR FEELINGS AND EMOTIONS. IS TIME FOR US GAYS (NO MATTER WHAT RACE) TO LET BLACK FOLKS KNOW TO STOP THE NAME CALLING, AND BRING THEM TO THEIR PAST HISTORY WITH THE “n” WORD AND LET THEM KNOW NIGGER IS A BAD WORD SO IS THE WORD FAGGOT AND HOMO AND BATTY BOY ETC., WE GAYS GOT TO STOP THE HATE IF WE ALL UNITE JUST LIKE THE BLACK FOLKS DID IN THE MARTIN LUTHER KING DAYS. WE MUST OVER COME NOW. STOP THE DISCRIMINATION MY BLACK BROTHERS AND SISTERS WE WERE ONCE SLAVES, AND WE RODE IN THE BACK OF THE BUSES, AND WE WERE CALLED COLORED, AND WE COULDNT SIT NEXT TO THE WHITE, DO YOU REMEMBER THAT MY BLACK SISTAHS AND BROTHERS. LETS STOP DISCRIMINATING. NO ONE LOVES THE WORD NIGGER SO DO WE DONT LIKE TO BE CALL FAGGOTS AND HOMOS.
