The First Amendment US constitution: Freedom of speech.
“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.”
I would of thought these charges go against Dan Choi’s first amendment right to freedom of speech and expression. I hope he sues the government. And what is Obama doing looking the other way why this is going on. Yesterday Obama was having lunch with LGBT leaders and today he is stabbing them all in the back.
It appears that Obama will do everything short of actually changing anything to keep the US LGB people onside.
He could do a lot by simple fiat, and allow changes to become embedded in the military and change attitudes. As it is he’s six months into it and the shine is coming off. If he doesn’t make cheanges now he never will: if he doesn’t make changes now he could well be a one-termer, setting LGBT rights back even further as a Republican president could well be more of a religious nut than Bush
Today (3 July) it wqas reported in Pink News that a US Seaman, August Provost, was dead after alleged harrassment. It was also said that he didn’t report previous harrassment because of DADT.
This is one reason why Obama ought to have got off his arse and suspended this obnoxious compromise with bigots. Every employer owes a duty of care: obviously in te US military that only extends to straights!
Isn’t it obvious by now that O’bama has NO INTENTION of honoring his campaign promise. He will use gay people the same way that he has repetedly used colored people only to further himself and hisa marxist agenda
