It is increasingly clear that Obama has no real intention of honouring the promises he made to the gay community in return for their vote. LGBT people quite simply should not vote for him in the next election if the DADT policy and DOMA are still being enforced. Obama is proving consistently that like all politicians what comes out of his mouth should not be believed and that his principles mean nothing when compared with political survival

  2. They should change there Party name from the Democrats to the Liberal Democrats, because he is starting to sound an awful lot like them.

  3. or maybe hes holding on to the DADT till me needs a boost in voting near the end of his power, if he can just take it away that easily he could do it for votes for his second year

  4. What silliness- why doesn’t he just hurry up and scrap it like he promised? This should have been something that was done rapidly as soon as he got into power. He should have got it out of the way so that he could focus on other things.

If he does it by fiat NOW, even if the republicans get in next time it will be so entrenched, and the military will not have been wrecked by poofs in uniform that there will be little stomach in the military to lose trained soldiers (etc). The republicans won’t then be able to say the military sides with their view

But Obama is just a politician like all the others. His principles will be discarded if he thinks it appropriate. Basically he is for sale. Like every politician who pretends to have principles.

  7. The only way that law could be worse is if it forced only gay people to enlist and then sent them to war
