Hey Jean-Paul….the voting was not unanious. Here’s the
totals
Obama 69297997 McCain 59597520
So there are 59 million who preferred McCain…so Obama has
a huge amount who don’t care for him and will fight against
him…the battle is far from over so don’t be so sure Obama will
get much done that he tries to do.
The polls keep measuring civilians for their results — why don’t
they ask the soldiers themselves to see what they think about
serving with gays — they are the “bottom line” as they are the
ones who have to be with the gays 24/7 and their feelings should
be the final determinant…anyone agree, disagree…who should be
the final judge?
Hank, they certainly didn’t ask the gay soldiers, so why should they ask the straight soldiers? Many other countries allow gay soldiers to serve openly, and they haven’t seen any negative effect on troop morale, or anything like mass walk-outs.
Actually, they have asked soldiers. There was a poll not that long ago that found 70% of troops deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan support repealing DADT. Even more interesting, the same poll found that despite the official policy, 1 out of 4 soldiers claim to know a gay person in their unit, and of those about one half say the person’s homosexuality is common knowledge.
