    Slow news day?

  2. As far as I can see she ran off under her own steam and hit her head on a concrete block. If she’d had a seizure or heart attack as a direct consequence of what he said they might have some sort of case, but if she overreacts and is too clumsy to look where she’s going as she runs off that’s hardly direct cause and effect. If he’d tripped her up as she ran past, that would be different.
In life, surprises and shocks occasionally happen, but if I’d been startled by a traffic accident on the other side of a road and ran into a tree, I’d have no-one to blame but myself.
People will sue for anything these days.

he is so far a deeply dishonest cruel ugly person who lies and misrepresents to get something to laugh at, to get others to laugh at people. that is using and abusing. it is profiting from other’s hurt, and hurting others for profit. pretty much as low as it gets.

All I’ve seen of Cohen previously is his exposing of other peoples prejudice for comic effect. Very clever if anything. This particular story seems a bit dramatic, not saying the woman is lying, but I think we’re missing something in the story

  5. I don’t find his particular sense of humour very funny, but i do have to say he’s pretty much breaking ground for gays by showing the clear homophobia/ sexism in people.
don’t know how many gay people would like to identify with his character tho. but maybe that’s the thing , homophobia is about non-masculine behaviour, not about gays themselves per se.

and i definitely don’t agree with isa kocher that he profits from other people’s hurt. tho he may do that, i think his main thing is to make hate and bigotry visible and have people laugh at that.

I say, I say, I say, my dustbin is full of Lillies! Why don’t I throw them out then? ‘Cos Lillies wearing them!
