Gay groups announced a few weeks ago that there would be a gathering of gay people on the Saturday after the verdict in the christian heartland of California irrespective of the outcome. If the Supreme Court decides that sexual apartheid is acceptable then I expect that there will be large scale riots all over California on Saturday. Let’s hope the court decides not to allow a minority’s civil rights to be taken away by the majority
I find it difficult to believe that the Supreme Court of California would change its opinion from this time last year when it ruled on the prevous proposition that banned gay marriage, particularly since Proposition 8 passed by a smaller majority than the last one. I think as well, the Court has a bit of cover given the result in Iowa earlier this year, it is no longer the case that only the liberal states are deciding in favour of gay marriage.
That said, the last decision was a 4/3 majority decision and it only takes one judge to change their mind.

I am wringing my hands! I hope I am still married in a few hours.
