Even if Lown married his partner by proxy in a state that allows gay marriage, the federal government does not recognise same-sex marriages for immigration purposes.

Somebody should kick the federal government’s ass. I bet Lown-Star could do it. I bet Lown-Star could do pretty much anything. What an awesome guy.

  3. Blimey. An honest politician. You don’t see those every day.

Seriously, major respect to that man, and I hope that when all his personal problems are sorted out that he stands for re-election. Sadly though, in redneck Texas, I doubt if the voters will see the honour this man has.

  4. A politician with principles! What a rare example! I have a lot of respect for him; which is more than I can say for most of the thieving crooks in the UK parliament (gay or straight).

  5. What a beautiful story.

A politician with ethics!!! Now that is a rarity in any country. And to give up what he had for love. Is this for real? Go to the head of the parade Mr. Lown. I cannot say how much I respect you and your actions.

  8. This is the best piece of news on gay issues to come out of America. What a shame “the land of the great and good??? Land of the FREE???”

That was a big step too take for love.
