Apprentice candidates rebrand seaside town of Margate as a gay holiday spot

Last night’s episode of The Apprentice saw candidates attempting to rebrand the seaside town of Margate as a gay holiday destination.

Ordered by Sir Alan to think of a new identity for the town, openly gay candidate Howard Ebison suggests attracting the pink pound.

However, his Empire teammate Mona Lewis reportedly disagreed, saying she would not like her six-year-old son to meet a gay man. Her comments were screened out of the final cut.

Mona then turns to market research, finding herself in an awkward conversation in a local gay bar.

She asks one customer: “Do you think there’s a big population of the gay and lesbians in Margate? Do you mind me asking you your sexuality?'”

The customer replies she is biologically male but is planning to have gender reassignment surgery.

A visibly surprised Mona replies: “You’re a boy and you’re going to be a girl? I would not know, honestly.”
