It’s utterly disgusting that the unelected House of Lords can kill legislation. At least if they were elected by the public they could claim that they were representing their constituents. As it is they represent no-one but themeselves and their personal prejudices.

The worst thing about a bad economic climate is that ethics and morality are the first things to go. I would rather be poor and free than rich and repressed.

Amusingly, my anti-spam code was “up regina”. My sentiments exactly.

Simon Murphy, I thoroughly agree with you. The House of Lords is an anachronism to say the least and totally undemocratic. It has no place in a democracy and should be abolished along with some who are C of E clerics. We’ll never get full equality with the likes of them having a say in our lives. While we’re at it, disestablish the state religion and we’d have more democracy. Why should gay citizens have to be pay taxes to support those parasites who in turn support discrimination against us?

How can Britian still put with this offensive class system of so called Lords and those awful indulgent Royals and what is this banner of economic competitiiveness? We have heard here in Australia ‘That England is economically stuffed and will never recover’. Watch out for those Muslums they are a sly lot.
