There is a direct link between the gay rights movement and gun crime, a morality campaigner has claimed.

Robert Peters, the president of Morality in Media, which was founded to “combat pornography”, made the comments in a press release issued earlier this month.

Despite saying: “It most certainly is not my intention to blame the epidemic of mass murders on the gay rights movement”, he then linked the success of the gay marriage sexual revolution to a fall in morality, saying this is what causes gun crime.

Mr Peters argued: “It is my intention to point out that the success of the sexual revolution is inversely proportional to the decline in morality; and it is the decline of morality (and the faith that so often under girds it) that is the underlying cause of our modern day epidemic of mass murders.”

He also claimed the the recent decision of the Iowa Supreme Court to legalise gay marriage in the state was part of the “damage” inflicted on society which was leading to paedophilia and STDs, among others.

“This secular value system is also reflected in the ‘sexual revolution,’ which is the driving force behind the push for ‘gay marriage;’ and the Iowa Supreme Court decision is another indication that despite all the damage this revolution has caused to children, adults, family life and society (think abortion, divorce, pornography, rape, sexual abuse of children, sexually transmitted diseases, trafficking in women and children, unwed teen mothers and more), it continues to advance relentlessly,” he said.

Past campaigns by Morality in Media include attempting to restrict the display of magazines such as Cosmopolitan from supermarket checkout lanes and White Ribbon against Pornography Week.

It was established in 1962 and non-profit, interfaith organisation
