  1. Progress, freedom, and liberation are unstoppable in the evolution of our species. In number of years’ time Vermont governor Jim Douglas will be dismissed as having been a bigoted old pillock.

The Vermont Gov. like Cals. Schwarzenneger is a bum when it comes to Civilrights among a lot of other things too:O(.
I did learn something here though, I think, and that’s about Social Security still going to the partner through the State. Can someone clarify this for me..

He looks as straight as Larry Craig.

  4. It should come as no surprise that politicians are full of politics. For example, Obama sent back the bust of Churchill that has stood in the White House for years. Churchill was allegedly racist, so what do you expect…. and now this vetoing from a republican? It’s just politics.

This guy is just playing to his conservative audience, to win votes. How cruel to deny us basic rights… social services, recognition as spouses…. we truly are 3rd class citizens, sadly. This must be what it felt like to be black in 1920!!

  5. lol@Glen Beck… I thought that too! ;)

  6. Dan – the bust of Churchill was on loan to Bush for eight years, at Bush’s request …. let’s face it anyone with a glimmer of sanity, taking over from Bush, would have had the Oval Office fumigated and all memories of him erased.

On the issue in question, Jim Douglas, what a nasty pillock!!! Mind you, he looks like he’s sitting on a cucumber!!

  7. The veto was overridden 100-49 and marriage comes into efffest on 1 September 2009

  8. I just sent the governor a thank you email. He has saved me time in researching where to spend my vacation dollars. I try to spend them where human rights are valued. Now I can write Vermont off my list of places to spend my money. I just wanted him to know… perhaps everyone should send him an email???

    BREAKING NEWS!!!!!!
The Vermont Legislature voted Tuesday to override Gov. Jim Douglas’ veto
of a bill allowing gays and lesbians to marry. The vote was 23-5 to
override in the state Senate and 100-49 to override in the House.

  10. Vermont governor Jim Douglas is a homophobic, racist, sexist Nazi cunt [typical republican]!
