and yet the armies of many of their Nato partners INCLUDING THE UK (their buddies in Iraq) don’t seem to be disintegrating….

Many US squaddies ARE pussies, needing a mummy to look after them

Considering that Bob Gates said yesterday that lifting the gay military ban was low on the list of priorities I don’t expect Obama to stick to his promises. The only good thing is that no gay soldiers will be needlessly killed in a war of choice waged by a war criminal (George W Bush) in order to steal resources (oil) from a country (Iraq) which posed absolutely no threat to the US.

  3. These silly old generals have obviously no idea what they are talking about (did they know Alexander the Great was Gay?) Parents wont let their kids join the army if there are gays in the army. well, we got news for you honey, we are everwhere, not just in the army!

  4. The president must not allow geriatric exgenerals to hamper the plans. Alexander the Great, Lawrence of Arabia, just 2 of the many great gay ex soldiers. The presidnet must stick to his plans and ensure that this becomes law.

  5. Removing the ban was never priority one on President Obamas list of things to do. Yes, he want to lift the ban but he wants to do it the right way and not the Clinton way, give the man time people, he has for years in office to get his things done.

Now on to the Generals. They should just shut up and go away. They have no idea what they are talking about. The military isn’t dealing with the male members of the armed forces sexually assaulting the female members. About 20% of sexual assault and female members goes unreported, why aren’t they concerned about that. Almost all sexual predators are straight men. So, I don’t really see how gay people will be a factor at all.

As for parent not allowing their children from joining, how stupid an argument is that. In order to join the military you have to be 18 years of age, or as most of us call it, a legal adult. Parents have now say in the matter.

So, will someone wake me when a bigot has something informed and intelligent to say, I’m going back to bed.

I’m sorry but 1 year, two years, 4 years, 8 years to wait is NOT good enough. This needs to be done NOW! Centurys Is Long enough to wait for equality!!! GLBT people are here and a vital part of the American way as in any country! If they want to join the military we should be free to do it whether we are Gay or Str8. Take the stupid Homophobic question of off the papers and just get on with life. This is sheer stupidty to held back back because of some f—-g Right Wing Religious Right bastard! This biggest danger to this country or any country for that matter are all the homophobic Conservatives who are for the biggest part Closet Cases!
Hang a few of them, see how they like it!!

For me the fight to join the army is like the fight to be accepted in the churches. In principle it’s good. But really. Who would want to waste their time fighting to be part of vile organisations which cause way more damage than good.

  8. Why don’t the rules apply to straight soldiers? When you are in battle, I doubt anyone is feeling like having sex anyhow. Where do these people come up with this nonsense. Kind of scares me to think the retired generals ran our military with such addled thinking.

Oh dear, the new saying–No Drama Obama! By the by Kids, whats this about our wonderful Conservativ Party? No! I dont belive it!

  10. I find it extremely funny that the US military is so afraid of us gays. They’re not frightened of being under fire, bein in a hostile environment while explosions go off around them, but you get a gay man in an army uniform going “hiya I’m Private Parts” and they flip out. I can just see the “enemy” employing gay soldiers to scare the US soldiers into retreating. Give me a break. It wasn’t that long ago that similar bull was being said about women in the military, and black and ethnic minorites were kept seperate from white soildiers. Its 2009 get with the programme.

Yes Ric not only is it 2009 but we are in the 21st century. You’d think Homophopbia would have gone away by now, but stupidity seems to be forever..
