    I suppose the Scottish Roman Catholic cardinal will foul his knickers over THIS. The US hierarchy certainly has, concerning similar laws in the US … they won’t be “allowed” to preach homophobia, promote hate, or diddle the altar-boys anymore.

    very proud that the SNP have taken up the moral challenge in the UK to oppose homophobia – something the UK government ought to have do long ago!

  3. Urm Jeff, sorry to burst your bubble but Scotland is actually the last UK country to introduce hate crime laws against sexual orientation, gender and disability. I believe even Northern Ireland has legislation in place.

    And it was Patrick Harvie of the Greens who initiated this legislation, not the SNP

  4. Yeah . . it sends a message alright . . . we now know how bloody STUPID the legislators are ! A crime is a crime is a crime ! These ridiculous distinctions destroy the notion of equal protection under the law ! When will these people exhibit a bit of intelligence !
