It’s about time something was done about the discrimination against transgendered people. Still, it really angers me that they are somehow seen as being at the bottom of the pile. What kind of sick notion is that? Why is it so difficult for so many to see that we all stand shoulder-to-shoulder as human beings?
The fact that the spokesman severely limited this concession to just those under-going gender reassignment should have pointed the author to an error in her report: trans people are not protected by the sex Discrimination Act – such protection is limited to those undergoing gender reassignment under medical supervision. The only improvement that the proposed Equality Act will bring is to remove the requirement for being under medical supervision.
