It happened because politicians ignored due process and pushed this through and onto the ballot. There was a lot of legal red tape they didn’t bother with or just skipped over in the hopes of exactly this happening.
This is hopeful news for LGBTQ people in California! I hope and pray that this horrible propsition will be seen for the legalised hate that it is and that the court will see fit to strike it down. I applaud Jerry Brown for his support of a basic human right.
Although my husband and I married in Canada in 2007, our prayers and wishes are with all those LGBTQ people in this country who do not yet have marriage equality.

and it should be illegal .
