Some users of PinkNews.co.uk have been unable to access the website today after it was listed by Google as an “attack site.”

“Attack sites try to install programmes that steal private information, use your computer to attack others, or damage your system,” some readers have been told when they tried to access the site.

Tony Grew, editor of PinkNews.co.uk, said:

“We would like to apologise to our readers and assure them that we are working to resolve the problem.

“As one of the world’s most popular LGBT news portals, we are keenly aware of the concern among some of our loyal readers that we have been attacked by some unknown homophobe.

“It appears that Google thinks it has detected some suspicious software somewhere on the site.

“We are working with our technical team to ascertain what the situation is.

“We appreciate all your emails and phonecalls and we are hopeful the problem can be cleared up soon.

“In the meantime you may wish to use a different web browser, such as Internet Explorer, to view PinkNews.co.uk.”
