West Virginia anti-gay marriage group posts sniper video

The Family Policy Council of West Virginia has posted videos on YouTube and its websites warning voters that gay marriage threatens heterosexual families.

The council aims to have West Virginia’s constitution define marriage as only between one man and one woman, and is pushing for a vote in the state on the issue, as in California and many other states.

The online ad features pictures of families with heterosexual parents being viewed through the sights of a sniper gun.

The narrator of the video warns that same-sex marriage is a near possibility in the state, and urges viewers to take action against it.

The council is part of a nationwide network of other family policy councils, campaigning for traditional values and drawing on Christian influences.

The mission statement of the council is to advocate: “policies that embrace the sanctity of human life, enrich marriages, and safeguard religious freedoms.”
