Jurors at Liverpool Crown Court have retired to consider their verdict in the trial over the killing of gay teenager Michael Causer.

Michael Causer, 18, was allegedly attacked by James O’Connor and Gavin Alker, both 19.

After a 999 call Causer was found by paramedics in the street on Friday 25th July.

Despite surgery to try to reduce swelling on his brain, Michael Causer died at 2:30pm on Saturday 2nd August.

Whilst O’Connor has pleaded guilty to murder, but denies the attack was homophobic, Alker still pleads not guilty.

He denies that he punched, kicked and beat Causer with a hardback book, shouting homophobic insults, after seeing images of Causer with an ex-boyfriend.

The trial continues.
