Hey there. I am an actor in the Laramie Project which is scheduled to be picketed at on the 20th of February. There will be a high police profile, and I am going to make use of my wrench which is a prop of mine in the play.
This is great publicity for our play, and we’re welcoming these people because of that.
I doubt that the WBC will picket at all, they are cowards who “hide” behind the 1st Amendment and their “spurious” church.
The WBC has often “posted” intended pickets to incite publicity, then never “carried out” their threat….

I seem to recall that they threatened to come and protest the same play a few years ago in this country. OutRage showed up to counter-protest and everything – but no WBC! So I think they’ll probably talk a big talk and then not show up again. In the meantime, there’s about eight of them, and they’re probably not worth the attention they get.

I read with interest the difference in your comments, I have been working to raise the awareness of this threat since it came to my attention a few days ago now, including contacting the press officer at Central Studios, circulating a request amonst the LGBT national networks to contact the Chief Constable of Hampshire and; ask what the constabulary intend to (DO)?
The reason for this is; nothing to do with the Phelps, WBC or whether they are entitled to free speech! The bigger picture here is, as citizens of the UK whom as a majority have been ignorded by our public authorities, banished, bruised and bullied for who we are (not what we are), they now through recent changes in legislation have a DUTY to protect, serve and; ensure HOMOPHOBIC HATRED, INCITEMENT or FEAR OF CRIME for LGB (Transgender & Intersexed people are covered under specific acts) individuals how ever you describe yourself or whether or not you hide behind yourself is adhered to appropriately. As the agency (and Chief Officer) working across the UK; I deal with case after case for people who have been secondary Victimized (Assoc of Chief Police Officers Guidance on Homophobia section 2) by those who duty it is to protect.
Regardless of whether WBC & the Phelps do come to the UK, the bigger question here is: How will the authorities guided by the government deal with this issue, will the try to sweep it under the carpet and ask us to ‘be quiet in our protest’ to stop press coverage allowing them to claim a ‘peaceful victory’ as I was advised the action should be by my local officer for the Commission for Human Rights suggested yesterday! Or do they honestly act fairly?
This is absolute wonderful press for your play and will no doubt raise your profiles, Mr Blessed’s Agent informed me yesterday he is aware of this issue; who better to support your portfolio than a member of the Equity royalty! well i first heard about this so calld group when i watchd an episode of jermmy kyle on tv and was appolled to hear what they had to say to a mother who lost her son in iraq war it was just so digusting how can they protest outside milletery bases and protesting at the graves of youn american men and woman graves how dissrespectfull can you be i have had and lost many freinds since my deployment to iraq and afghanistan i fully stand by what i beleave in and i love fighting for my countery along side my allies some of the ppl that these so calld god belevaer,s have dissrespected i have fought alongside and these brave men and woman died for there country so that this group could drag there lifes threw the miud they where fighting for our freedom and because for what they beleaved in i am a marine sniper currentley deployd in iraq and i just find it horrible what they are doing personally if anybdy is going to hell i beleave it is the leadrers of this group they need to stop what theya are doing and realise that it is wrong ….. graham scotland .
