Pop star Lily Allen has hit out at people who make anti-gay statements and described gossip blogger Perez Hilton as “a woman hater” in an interview to be published tomorrow.

Ms Allen is the first woman to appear on the cover of GT (formerly Gay Times) since Princess Diana in 1997.

She told the magazine that she supports equality for gay people.

“I just feel you have no right to hate anyone because of how they’re born,” the 23-year-old said.

“I think if you’re a human being with a heart in your chest, you’re the same as everyone else.

“I’ve grown up around gay people, black people, adulterers, drug addicts, and I don’t treat anyone differently.”

Her war of words with Perez Hilton is explored in the interview.

“I find him quite annoying… as a gay man you should be championing young girls that are going out there and doing their own thing and not slamming them for owning their sexuality and calling them sluts.

“When he’s happy he’s good and when he’s sad about himself he’s really horrible – about everyone.

“He’s a woman hater but I think that’s something to do with his own self loathing.

“So much of what he does is bullying.”

Ms Allen, daughter of actor Keith Allen, shot to fame via social networking site MySpace and released her first album in 2006.

The February Issue of GT goes on sale tomorrow.
