Gay comedian and author Stephen Fry is understood to be the first guest to appear on the Friday Night With Jonathan Ross following the host’s suspension from broadcasting on the BBC.
Ross was suspended following “Sachs Gate” where he and Russell Brand broadcast voicemail messages they had left for Fawlty Towers star Andrew Sachs. The messages contained lurid claims that Brand has slept with the Mr Sach’s daughter.
Media Guardian cites a leaked programme billing listing both Fry and comedian Lee Evans as guests on Ross’s BBC One show later this month.
They will be joined by the band Franz Ferdinand, who will perform their new single Ulysses.
“Sachs Gate” was followed by two further incidents of embarrassment for the BBC. Last year, PinkNews.co.uk reported that the police received a complaint about an allegedly homophobic joke on Have I Got News For You. Last week, PinkNews.co.uk exposed a BBC Three programme which broadcast homophobic comments regarding Lindsay Lohan and lesbians in general during BBC3′s The Most Annoying People of 2008. A BBC presenter speaking about lesbians said: “let the munters and mingers get each other. That’s cool because nobody wants them.”
