A 16-year-old has been charged with the murder of a gay man in London.

The boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, will appear in a juvenile court over the murder of David Cooper, a 28-year-old from Woolwich, south east London.

Police were called last Wednesday afternoon after two of men reported that they had discovered a body at the address of a friend in Sir Martin Bowes House, Calderwood St, SE18.

The London Ambulance Service attended but Mr Cooper, who resided at the address, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A postmortem at Greenwich Mortuary gave the cause of death as head injuries.
