The ban on gay blood donors is inexcusable. Some people say (rightly) that the prevalence of HIV among gay men as a group makes it more likely that the blood is infected. However they fail to acknowledge that blood donors from sub-Saharan Africa are JUST as likely to be infected. Blood donations from African donors (or people who’ve had sex with them ) are not banned. Therefore the gay blood ban is obviously homophobic. There’s no other reason for the double standard.
