That’s great news! Taking away rights for a minority group which is in conflict with the equal rights guarantee in the constitution is a very serious change. You’re asking the constitution to start making exceptions to its own principles. Simple majority is not enough for that. BRAVO and Smart Work! We should still throw in a referendum.
With such a small percentage difference the proposition should be completely thrown out. It takes 2/3 of the states in the US to change the US constitution, so it should take 2/3 votes PLUS approval by the courts.
Can it be as simple as this, the government would recognize and sanction the union of two adults, with legal and mental capacity to consent to join in a monogamous union obligating to each other legal rights and responsibilities and thus availing themselves
to federal and state protection, accommodation and regulation, i.e., a civil union.

Discrimination in any form is wrong. This situation needs to be corrected promptly before California’s image is forever stained by this travesty.
