IF ….and let’s hope it doesn’t come to this … but IF Prop 8 is successful where does that leave the 18,000 couples who have married. They did so lawfully and can not be penalised for doing so, and one of the great tenets of law is that it can not be enacted retrospectively. It would be totally ridiculous for 18,000 legal marriages to suddenly be declared legally null and void!!!
