This is great news, a dedicated research project into drug and alcohol use in England amongst Gay, Lesbian and bisexual communities. Although I must point out that it is certainly not the first research into English Gay men and Lesbians related to their use of alcohol and drugs. The Recent large scale survey of Lesbians conducted by Stonewall “Lesbian & Bisexual Women’s Health Survey 2007″ explored levels of drug and alcohol use and the National Gay men’s sex survey “Vital Statistics” has asked about drug and alcohol use levels and concern over a number of years. There is other research I can think of as well such as the London gay bars surveys. So there is research already done that gives a good idea of levels of drug and alcohol use amongst gay and bisexual men and Lesbians and bisexual women. I hope the strength of this new research is that it can go into a lot more detail.
