Gay rights activists in Arizona have vandalised billboards urging people to vote against same sex marriages.

In November, residents of Arizona will vote on Proposition 102 of that state’s constitution. The amendment says that only marriage between one man and one woman will be recognised in Arizona law.

Signs bearing the slogan “Yes on 102” were erected by YesForMarriage.com, a group that campaigns against gay marriage.

More than 100 of the signs were vandalised. Activists painted the words “yes to hate” on top of the original slogan.

A spokesman for YesForMarriage.com told Queerty.com that the damage done to the billboards will cost almost $6,000 (£3,400) to repair.
