Gay youth radio station secures more funding
FYI Radio, an LGBT youth user-generated radio station, has announced its live launch show this month.
The event will take place at The Edge in Soho Square, London on Tuesday 30th September.
The launch, presented to a live audience, will feature an acoustic session for Indy Music Award Nominee Kal Lavelle, who has supported James Brown and the Beach Boys.
Guests are to arrive at 6.30pm for a 7pm start. Drinks will be served, and the event will finish around 8pm.
The announcement comes the day after FYI Radio was awarded £2,000 by Vinspired.
Vinspired is a youth volunteering charity that pledges to be led by the interests of young people.
FYI Radio director Ryan Haynes told PinkNews.co.uk:
“I first head of Vcashpoint (Vinspired’s funding scheme) through the LGBT Consortium, who awarded FYI £1,500.
“The email from Vcashpoint came through last night saying that we have been awarded around £2,000.
“Vinspired.com is for young people setting up voluntary project in the community, funding anything from young people transforming their public space, to anti-bullying schemes, to setting up a campaign, and lots of other things as well.
“FYI Radio fits across a lot of those categories.
“We are really pleased that we have been awarded a grant from this innovative funding organisation.
“The grant will be used to fund live-audience recorded events. We will be hosting a series of these events over the coming months for young LGBT people.”
“FYI Radio is still looking for organisations to help support us with venues and youth volunteer participants, or anyone aged 16-30 who wants to get involved in the project.”
