I’m not sure I trust the Greens. They are in power in Ireland as the junior partner in the coalition government there. Before the last electiono they were campaigning for the introduction of full gay marriage. As soon as they entered power they have abandoned their commitment to equality and now support the introduction of the 2nd rate Civil Partnership in Ireland. A party that can abandon their principles so easily should be watched closely.
I don’t think it’s fair to compare Caroline with the Irish Greens. The Greens in Scotland also have a supporting role to the government there and they have been exemplary in their advocacy of LGBT rights and against homophobia. The LGBT record of the Greens on the London Assembly is also very strong.
