The ban on gay marriage in California was lifted in MayComedienne and talk show host Ellen DeGeneres marry her long-term partner, actor Portia de Rossi, in California this weekend.
The couple are reportedly holding an intimate ceremony with close friends and family.
DeGeneres said of De Rossi: “I feel like I found my perfect fit. She’s taught me lessons about myself, and I feel like I’ve taught her.”
The ban on gay marriage in California was lifted in May.
Since then there has been debate over whether it should remain legally recognised, and the decision to allow gay marriage may yet be reversed.
The California Marriage Protection Act, if passed by voters in November, would amend the state constitution to define marriage as only ‘between a man and a woman.’
