Cardiff to celebrate Pride in September
The 2008 Cardiff Pride will see men and women given separate zones as new features kick start a fresh approach to the gay festival.
Replacing the annual Cardiff Mardi Gras, which was cancelled due to lack of community and financial support, the organisers of Cardiff Pride have promised to have all the important key elements people have come to expect over the years.
There will be a womens stage, supported by lesbian magazine Diva, hosting a variety of entertainment aimed at women, while men will have their own zone.
Another change for the event, at Coopers Field on September 6th, is the entrance fee, though all proceeds will be donated to local gay causes and Welsh charities.
The main stage will run until 9pm with the line-up including the original 1960s Tiller Girls and Brighton Gay Mens Chorus, who reached the final stages of BBC1’s Last Choir Standing.
There will be a dance tent sponsored by South Wales Fire and Rescue Service, in conjunction with Cardiff gay venues Club X and Kings Cross, and dance night specialists Decadance. A host of top named DJs will also feature.
Spectators can also look forward to a larger than ever cabaret marquee, hosting a variety of comedy, singers and drag artists.
There will also be food outlets, a funfair, village market, community stalls and a VIP area.
