I didn’t go much for this film largely because the lead was played by Ben Silverstone who was so obviously Jewish. Now I went to a major UK fee-paying Grammar School (known at one time as the Jewish Eton)where the very attractive, dark and alluring Jewish boys(like Ben) never but never played!Though it was set in Manchester with the largest Jewish community outside London – there were no Jewish characters in Queer as Folk which from my limited experience of Canal Street (admittedly in the 1960′s) was therefore not a true reflection of the Mancunian gay scene.
