  1. While I admire Bradley Fowler’s cahones for speaking up for gay rights, I would mention that the Old Testament, specifically Leviticus and Deuteronomy have both got passages that tell the reader gayness is basically an abomination.
For my money complaining about homophobia in the bible is like complaining about homophobia in “Mein Kampf”. As my old philosophy mentor pointed out, if the religion stands or falls on what is written in the holy book, and you want to take issue with it, then start a different religion because whatever your edits amount to they’re not going to be “gospel”. It was around that point I jacked christianity in and I’ve never looked back from the days when I belonged to a club that wouldn’t have me as a member.

Karen Armstrong, in her “The Bible, a biography,” asserts the Hebrew writings in BCE were regularly altered to fit the preceived needs of the community, as those needs changed.

Nothing new here. The writers “need” something, they say “God said.” The sheep bleat on.

If you’re going to pubish anything the variations between editions shouldnt be that vast to begin with.

  4. Man has bastardized the word of God so much over the centuries! It’s shameful! She should be fired if she doesn’t want to do her job!
