What society needs to do is educate the public. Hatred, intolerance, homophobia, discrimination are all learned behaviour. None of us come into this world filled with prejudice and hate. Once the public accepts this, then maybe they’ll do a better job of raising their children. It is not the responsiblity of teachers to raise other people’s children in the classroom, but we should be teaching diversity for sure, it should be mandatory as with sex education, if its going to have any impact. Early intervention is the best prevention.
