Rosie O’Donnell denies breakup and “outs” gossip columnist

Big gay Rosie O’Donnell gave original gossip girl, 90-year-old Cindy Adams, a taste of her own medicine. And she didn’t chase it with a spoonful of sugar!

Responding to Adams’ column in the New York Post alleging that O’Donnell and her partner Kelli Carpenter have called it quits, O’Donnell joked to upstart gossip guru Perez Hilton via email, “Cindy Adams and I are having a full blown affair. She is a lesbian.”

O’Donnell’s lesbian assertion about Adams came in response to Adams’ column which claimed, “WE’RE hearing that the togetherness of Rosie O’Donnell and Kelli Carpenter, the handsome blond gal Rosie calls her wife, may not be so together anymore.

“They married a few years ago in San Francisco. I remember excited Kelli then showing me her new driver’s licence bearing the name Kelli O’Donnell,” Adams continued.

The post refers to O’Donnell’s and Carpenter’s 2004 wedding in San Francisco when Mayor Gavin Newsome authorized granting same-sex marriage licences.

At the time, O’Donnell said she and Carpenter rushed to wed as a political act to protest President George W. Bush’s support of the Federal Marriage Amendment.

San Francisco Treasurer and out lesbian Susan Leal officiated the nuptials while the San Francisco Gay Men’s Chorus serenaded the couple.

All of the marriages during that period were later declared void by the California Supreme Court.

“Whatever other difficulties such a break-up might cause, there is also a houseful of adopted kids they’re raising,” Adams also wrote about the couple in her column, referring to the couple’s three adopted children and one that Carpenter carried.

But O’Donnell stopped the old time gossip girl in her tracks denying the rumours to PerezHilton.com and starting a lesbian rumour of her own.
