London Eye bathed in rainbow colours to mark Pride

One of the UK’s best-known tourist attractions will become a multi-coloured symbol of diversity for three days when it will be illuminated in the rainbow colours for Pride London.

The 135m tall London Eye will be illuminated on the 3rd, 4th and 5th of July.

The Eye, launched in 2000, is the world’s largest cantilevered observation wheel and was designed by Mark Barfield Architects.

It has already won more than 75 awards for national and international tourism and has attracted 27 million visitors since it opened.

Pride London is another favourite with tourists and locals alike, and it is expected to attract 500,000 people to the streets of the city on Saturday.

Now in its fifth year in its present form, organisers are pulling out all the stops to make Pride London 2008 the best in the UK.

This year’s theme is fairytales, myths and legends, so the London Eye probably will not be the only colourful thing in London this Pride week.
