Free 15 minute HIV tests available in Soho
A walk in clinic in the heart of London’s gay village is encouraging gay and bi men to take advantage of their free, rapid HIV testing.
Sorted Soho also offers free Hepatitis B vaccinations.
By the age of 35, one in three gay men in London will have had Hep B, which it is preventable by a course of three vaccinations followed by a booster.
Sorted Soho’s rapid HIV testing service provides results within 15 minutes.
20% of HIV positive gay men are diagnosed late and so are at more risk of serious illness and death.
Latest figures indicate that one in 10 gay men in London is HIV positive, a third of them are untested and unaware of their HIV diagnosis.
The Health Protection Agency and British HIV Association both now recommend that gay men should test at least annually for HIV.
“The number of gay men affected by HIV and Hepatitis B is a cause for great concern,” said HIV consultant Dr Macky Natha.
“Visiting Sorted for a HIV test or Hepatitis B vaccination is free, confidential, quick and straightforward.
“Gay men can make a quick stop on their way home from work using our walk-in service and stay ahead of the game.”
Sorted Soho is located at the Soho Centre for Health and Care, 29-30 Soho Square, London W1 and open Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 5:30 until 8:00pm.
It is a walk-in service however same day appointments can be made over the phone – 020 7534 6500.
The same service is offered on a Friday evening between 5:30 until 8:00 at Clash.
