  1. The time when a new leader might have helped the Labour Party are long gone. Whether in 2 months time, or two years time, I suspect Brown and his rats will have to go down with their sinking ship.

    Absolutely right Neil and any Labour politician with any aspirations of political advancement will not want to touch the leadership when one definite, and a second very likely, general election defeat is imminent.

    Whoever takes the leadeship now will have to endure a long opposition only to be replaced by a new face when election success looks more likely.
