Before you accept sweeping generalisations about how people vote in anti-discrimination or any other votes, please check the voting list. You will find that I, as a Conservative MEP, have voted consistently for gay rights issues and indeed voted for the inclusive version of the EU Anti-Discrimination measure. The problem was that the Commissioner at a public meeting was quoted as having received a deputation from one Labour and one Liberal Democrat British MEP, urging him to stick to the Disability onl;y option – and this was of course supported by a large number of disability organisations. I entirely support disability discrimination but I wanted the legislation to cover all areas of discrimination, including sexual orientation.
