London’s newest gay-friendly football club is landed a major sponsor.
Perfect Partnerships promote and specialise in co-ordinating civil partnerships, gay and lesbian stag and hen weekends, commitment ceremonies, gay honeymoons and overseas gay weddings.
London Falcons Football Club, which fields teams in both 5-a-side and 11-as-side competitions, was founded less than two years ago but already boasts more than 100 members.
They recently reached the final of the Yorkshire Terriers 5-a-side tournament.
“Our ethos has always been to embrace diversity and to deliver dreams to people and this is a quality we recognised within the London Falcons,” said Andrew Webber of Perfect Partnerships.
“We are delighted to become involved with and support a dynamic team who share our wishes to continue to raise the bar within the community.”
Falcons’ manager Craig Randall said:
“We are very proud to be associated with Perfect Partnerships and are thrilled to have him on board. We look forward to a long and healthy relationship.”
The Falcons play in the Gay Football Supporters’ Network (GFSN) national league, the world’s only gay and gay friendly national league.
One of the league’s clubs, Leftfooters FC, is hosting the International Gay Lesbian Football Association World Championship in London between 24th and 30th August 2008.
Teams from all over the world will take part in the event, to be held in Regents Park, with the finals to be played at Leyton Orient’s Matchroom Stadium.
The organisers behind London 2008 believe that football should be enjoyable for all, free from discrimination on the grounds of sexuality and accessible to people of all backgrounds and all sporting abilities.
Leftfooters FC have been working with the Football Association for the past two years.
The FA will provide technical support for the tournament, and will help to recruit match officials and volunteers for the biggest gay sporting event ever hosted in the UK.
