McGreevey confirms threesome claims

The saga of Jim McGreevey, the first US state Governor to come out of the closet, continues with allegations he and his ex-wife regularly had threesomes with a male employee.

The former Governor of New Jersey admitted in 2004 to having an extra-marital affair with his male aide Golan Cipel.

McGreevey announced the story himself and resigned from office after a sexual harassment lawsuit was brought against him by Cipel.

In a statement at the time, Mr McGreevey announced: “My truth is that I am a gay American.”

However, new allegations have emerged in the divorce proceedings of Mr and Mrs McGreevey.

Their former driver claims that he regularly took part in threesomes with the couple, an allegation that Dina Matos McGreevey heatedly denied to ABCNews.com branding them “completely false.”

However, her former husband told AP:

“This happened, this happened in the past, and now we need to move on with our lives.”

Mrs McGreevey also rejected the claim by the former driver, Ted Pedersen, that she was aware that her husband was gay when she married him.

Pedersen told the Newark Star-Ledger that he had sex with Dina Matos McGreevey while her husband watched at the couple’s condo in Woodridge, N.J.

The sex often took place after dinner at a local T.G.I. Friday’s, he said.

In an email to ABCNews.com, she claimed that McGreevey had set up Pedersen, one of his “cronies,” to spread the tale because her former husband “cannot stand it when I am receiving attention in the media rather than him.”

Pedersen claimed over the weekend that he has filed a sworn deposition as part of the McGreevey’s brawling divorce proceedings that the three of them frequently engaged in what they called “Friday Night Specials.”

The encounters reportedly stopped before McGreevey became Governor.

Pedersen claims that he never knew the former Governor was gay.

“In hindsight there might have been light interest in me but it didn’t seem like he was gay.

“It did enhance their sexual relationship having me be a part of it,” he told ABCNews.com.

The claim and counter-claim from the McGreevey’s is just the latest in a notoriously bitter divorce struggle.

The former Governor appeared on Oprah in 2006, and shocked viewers with his confession of an encounter with a gay aide while his wife lay in bed in hospital following a difficult birth of their son.

Dina Matos Mc Greevey’s book, Silent Partner, came out last year. She also appeared on Oprah.

Following the former Governor’s admissions, and further revelations of sexual encounters at highway rest stops, Mr McGreevey and his second wife began divorce proceedings.
