    Which was?

  2. yes, as a seeker of enlightenment, I too would like to know “the truth” and the “relationship”. thank you

  3. please note – these responses are to a different article and are not a reflection on Ms Degeneres.

  4. I remember when I was proud to be an American, but just barely.Sister Sally Kern reminds me of my own mother and father. My father was a Southern Baptist pastor and an elected Republican official in the state of Mississippi and my mother was VERY vocal about her fear and hatred of homa-sek-shuls (very much like Sister Sally) when I came out as gay. Like Sister Sally’s son, I was immediately disowned by my parents and my mother became an even more public and more vocal, hysterical and willfully misinformed anti-gay spokesperson to anyone and everyone who would listen. She even found a way of making herself look like the victim in MY being kicked to the curb.Thank goodness my mother eventually came around so I guess there is hope for Sister Sally. Of course that epiphany won’t happen until she realizes that it is BIGOTRY, like the bigotry that she holds and promotes, and not Islam OR homosexuality that is the greatest threat to America (and the world). Bigotry is more of a threat even than terrorism. After all, what act of terrorism has there ever been that wasn’t a result of bigotry?Sister Sally is a part of the problem and not a part of the cure for what ails America. Education, exposure and compassion are the only antidotes to Sister Sally’s bigotry. Sadly, her church (my former church), her culture (my former culture) and her political affiliation (my former political affiliation) aren’t going to encourage her to move away from her poisonous homophobic bigotry. The Republican caucus of the Oklahoma legislature gave her a STANDING OVATION upon her return to the floor of the House. Not exactly a way to discourage bigotry. One more note about how these good Christians fight against the evil homos. Sister Sally, in a press conference two days ago, claimed that she had been receiving death threats from homa-sek-shul activists. Yesterday the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (the FBI of OK) reviewed each and every one of the 7,000+ emails that Kern has received and reported that they didn’t find a single death threat; NOT ONE!Lies are OK (no pun intended) as long as they are done in the name of Jesus in the holy war against the homosexual hoards.SHAME on you Sally Kern and SHAME on anything and everything that taught you to be, and continues to support you in remaining, the homophobic bigot that you are!Props to Sister Ellen for recently REfound voice and her REfound willingness to speak out against homophobia! It’s great to have you back on the soapbox!!

Wow!!! I’m originally from the South and completely EMBARRASSED to say that! Sally Wake up Diversity Is Awesome No Matter what or who you are!! One Love needs to be your Bible!! You should Never Judge others.. Especially when you Need so Much work On yourself!!Cheers,HP

  6. Sally Kern has two sons – one of which is straight, and the other, the one she disowned, and who was repeatedly accused by university officials of sexual instances in the men’s rooms at Oklahoma Baptist University, is apparently gay. This is not the first time this has happened in a religious family in Oklahoma. The other that I remember personally was when Oral Roberts, yes the preacher, disowned his younger son for being gay, and thereafter refused to acknowledge his existence. The boy committed suicide. He and I were students at the time at Tulsa University. He was a very bright and genuinely fine person. Too bad he, like the Kern fellow had to grow up in such a bigoted atmosphere.

Zeke, Sally Kerns is what the republican party engenders and no wonder it produces sad examples of the Larry Craig, Mark Foley ilk ad nauseum. To digress, I draw your attention to the sex scandal involving Governor Spitzer of New York. The scandal was probably a result of that arch antidemocrat Roger Stone. The doubles tandards and hypocrisy within the republican party are notorious. Lets not forget that dirt bag David Vitter of Lousiana who had similar dalliances with prostitutes and denied any wrongdoing which was later proved to the contrary, yet he returned to congress and received a standing ovation. Its sickening.

  8. What a totally disgusting display.Ms. Kern, I have with the same partner for 52 years. Put that in your bigoted pipe and smoke it!

  9. I’m so glad I’m leaving this country soon =_= Can’t stand the religious bigotry here.

  10. If we want a peaceful loving society, maybe religion should be banned. These right wing so-called religous types remind me of the Nazi regime. Spreading hatred is not a religous right. Throughout history, many wars and atrocities have been carried out under the banner of religion. Being gay, isn’t a lifestyle choice…who would choose a way of life that puts you in the firing line of biggots. She should get off her high horse and put her energies and money into helping people with real need, not attacking minorities.
