There is no need for an expensive and pointless ‘Inquiry’ into the Human Rights legislation. It has brought plenty of good things, not least to our GLBT communities but there are negative factors galore too.The simple fact is that there is emphasis on ‘rights’ to the total exclusion of ‘responsibilities’ and it is this that is dogging the legislation – I didn’t need an ‘Inquiry’ to see this and neither does anyone else who is prepared to admit that responsibilities are at least as important as rights. Until that proper balance is restored the legislation will continue to be discredited in the eyes of a substantial part of society. We could even be in danger of losing the benefits gained so far.
